Cooking in a bottle

Well I wanted to do something different for a change!! I have been keeping baby food jars and with Henry's Christening coming up I was wondering what to put in them. I thought about Jelly and custard so easy to do!

I have seen cheese cake and that is super cute too!  In the end I decided on cake!! Now this is my first go and I am sure you could used what ever cake mix you would like but I used my tried and trusted vanilla cupcake recipe as it is pretty well fail proof!

Step 1.
Collect baby bottles and clean in a dishwasher

Step 2.
Place blueberries in the bottom of the jar so that they are about 3 layers high!

Step 3.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees

Step 4.
Combine the following into a bowl and combine using an electric whisk for 1-2 minutes or until light and creamy.

150g caster sugar
150g unsalted butter
175g self raising flour
3 eggs
1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract

If you want to add a little could like I have add it a few drops at a time till you get the colour you would like.

Step 5.
Spoon mixture into the glass bottles on top of the blueberries until the bottle is just over half full. Wipe excess mixture off the inside of the bottle with a wet paper towel.

Step 6.
Cook in the oven for 20-30mins or until the cake is golden brown or you can stick a cake stick in and it comes out clean

Step 6.
Let them cool down the you can icing or cream and berries on top!!

Step 7. Make sure you eat it with a long spoon so you can enjoy the blueberries. Enjoy!
